Hi guys,
Im a little bummed out, i wanted to upgrade my PSU cuz i will be SLiing my rig soon cuz im using a 8600GTS and i have a spare 8600GTS that was given to me... so i ran eXtreme PSU calculator and it gave me a result that kindda made my jaw dropped. It stated that i would need a 877W PSU to run safely for more than 1 year??? but currently, im using 450W PSU and my system is absolutely fine... Does going sli almost double my power usage??

My Current Rig

Intel Core 2 Duo 6420
Asus P5N-E SLi
2X WD 320GB HDD in RAID 0
4X 1GB Team Elite DDR2-800 RAM
DVD-RW
Floppy
Gigabyte 8600GTS
6X 12CM Case fan
Coolermaster Twin Aurora CCFL
Coolermaster Extreme Power 450W PSU

Any comments?

If you calculations are correct, I'm doubting his current PSU can handle the load. He's a link to a similar PSU, but only has 19A on the 12V rail.

It's probably time to upgrade your PSU to something better, if your going to SLI them. This PSU would be the minimum that I would use with your current setup: $58 shipped after $20 MIR's

or if your wanting to get a much better PSU and cash in on a $45 MIR, check this Antec 550W PSU for $60 shipped!

thanks for the replys...
at the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator web page, i entered my rig, set the tdp to 90% and the cap aging to 20% and the total came to around 850W.. But i guess a 550 ~ 600W psu should be enough rite? i can only get coolermaster only. i guess the coolermaster 600W iGreem PSU should accomodate just fine.

When you put in your system, did you put single processor or dual processor? You need to put Single processor, even though it is a dual core, it is still 1 physical processor in one socket. This is usually what people do when they get extremely high power requirements on a PSU calculator.
