I want to buy a DVD writer that can be fitted in both positions V / H, i think they have the clamp type spindle.

Know of any?

I have run mine laying on its side. I didnt really do it on purpose just
happened to have a cd in it when I layed it on its side to work on it.
I havent ever seen one without a clamp type spindle, though there may be some. They need to be clamped to maintain balance at the high RPM. The trick would be getting the disk in and out of the drive as it will want to fall out when the door opens

With the current new model Pioneer DVR 215 (desktop) the DVD disk sits in a holder and is secured when it slides in.

I have seen notebook DVD drives that u actually push the disk into the spindle, which holds the disk no matter what position the drive is placed.

If u had this installed in a small tower or desktop, u could place it, ie. desktop (to save room), on the vertical, without worry of disk falling out of position :fou:
