Backup Software for Extertnal HDD

I've been looking for an automatic backup software to backup the data on my hdd to an external hdd. All of the software I have tried backs the data up as a special backup file like .tib or .cfg. Is there any program that just mirrors the folders that I want it to backup instead of creating a backup file?
