New rig will not shutdown, just restarts every time

I just finished a new system build. Everything went great until I tried to shut down. Using the Start>Shut Down option (XPSP2) the PC will shut down but about 5 secs later it powers back on and boots. It boots fine, no errors. This is a fresh install of XPSP2, have not updated yet.

Just looking for ideas on what to try. Have read about Wake On features and disabling them, disabling hibernation.. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

More about shutdown restarts time
  1. check out this thread first:

if that don't fix it then:
simply re-install XP to a different directory, just parallel the existing directory.

  2. Have you tried pulling the power plug in the back?

If it still will not turn off you may have a more serious problem!!!
