For anyone interested, I thought I'd post the temps of my 3.6 GHz E6850 before and after lapping. I lapped both the Zalman 9700 and the CPU. Total cost for sandpaper was about $15 and it took 3 or 4 hours. Thanks to graysky for his lapping guides.
A 3C improvement, which is okay, I guess, but I'm expecting better once the Arctic Silver 5 break-in period of 200 hours has been reached. The first-boot readings, following the lapping, weren't too encouraging at all, but once I ran Prime 95 for a couple of hours, then shut down overnight, I saw the improvement below.
I compared at 3.6 GHz because I had good, reliable info prior to lapping.
