Hey People,

I'm semi-new to upgrading my computer system and I wanted to ask everybody out there if they thought this setup would work before I bought a new x1950 Pro and an Antec PSU to spruce up my gaming experince. I realize that I should be considering going to a PCI-e board, but due to cash constrains I need to make my current rig work.

My current system is a 2.6Gz Processor on an Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard.
(Planning on snagging a 3.2Gz Processor in the future)
I'm running with 2Gigs of Kingstons DDR ram.

I'm planning on getting a x1950 Pro 512mb Video Card

And I also realize I need to get a new PSU because my old is a 300w cheap-o-brand.

If this setup will run, I'd really appreacite the conformation or any insight as to how I can keep my computer from exploding.

Thanks,

Antec 550W PS should work fine with 1950PRO.

no need to get a x1950pro as it will bottleneck with the cpu. it will work ofcourse but not at full efficiency.try to change your processor and things will get very good then. even pentium 4 3.2ghz processor wont help as the this card is ways too much for those processors. u can get a normal vga card and upgrade your system in the near future. which vga card r u using currently? hope i helped.

I think an X1950 PRO would make a good companion for a 3.2 GHz P4.

The CPU will be a slight bottleneck but it's still a good match.

Yup, I'll second the emotion. That should work just fine and it's also on the X1950 Pro certified power supply list. Enjoy the card. What video card do you have now?

Thanks for all the replies, it's a good piece of mind to know the stuff I want to buy isn't a complete mistake.

Sounds like I need to try to upgrade my processor ASAP.

As for the current card question, I'm running a Radeon 9700 128mg card.

So I'm thinking I should see some kind of increase in performance. My main games are Wow and Bf2142.

BF2142, there will be a huge performance increase.

WoW... not so much. WoW is largely bottlenecked by server and networking performance, it's pretty easy on the videocard.
