I tried googling this but couldn't find any info.

Is the drive inside microsoft's xbox360 HD-DVD unit a standard HD-DVD drive?
Would it be possible to put it into a 5.25 bay and connect it via SATA or IDE? or does it use proprietary connectors?

why would you want to do this?

The Xbox360 HD-DVD unit has it's own housing, power supply, and connects through a USB port. The actual drive uses a mini ATAPI connector found in laptops, and could be converted to IDE, but I don't know how you'd get power to it.

I'm more interested in whether it's actually possible as opposed to actually doing it. But, to get a cheap HD-DVD drive for your pc is surely reason enough to consider it?

Now you got me curious. Anyone? I second this though.
