My heatsink has paste on it. Do I remove?

My AMD Athlon x2 came with a heatsink. I realized after applying arctic silver to the processor that the heatsink already had stuff on it. Do I remove that? If so, how?

isopropyl alchohol or some thermal cleaner available at places like Performance-PCs or Frozen-CPU

i once read that zippo fluid does the trick fine. lol dont take my word for it but tbh it makes perfect sense to me, what do you have to lose anyway ;D
