I have an Asus P4C800 board (old, but still works) and I fear that the on board SCSI support was pre-first-generation. It is INCREDIBLY slow, so I would like to add on a card which may be faster. I am aware that PCI is capped at 133 (and that I will not hit 150), but my transfer speeds thru the motherboard are substantially slower than that.
As such, I was hoping someone could make a recommendation. It is almost impossible to tell from the product descriptions whether something is PCI (as opposed to PCI-E) and whether it can support an optical sata drive.
SO ... if anyone out there knows of a PCI (not PCI-E) Sata card which supports optical, can you PLEASE let me know?
The Promise SATA300 TX4 is PCI and supports Serial ATAPI devices (i.e. optical drives).
