Hi guys,

I need your help. Which one should I go for, The ASUS P5K-VM or the Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R. The Asus board does not have RAID, whereas I read in an article on anandtech that the Gigabyte even with its ultra durable components is not a good overclocker + its about 15$ expensive than the ASUS one.

Cheers

So what's important to you in a MB?

Why are you buying a G33 and asking about OCing?
Get a P35

Do you think the G35 will be a good OCing MB when (if ever) it comes out?

No.....
Boards with built-in Graphics are inherently worse OverClockers.

I have ASUS P5K-VM running at 450FSB, with 1.35V for proc (e6550@3.15GHz) and 2.1V for ram (corsair DDR2-675 with 1:1 ratio). The bad thing is you can't adjust the northbridge voltage, but other than that its pretty good..

And yeah I know my setup is a bit wierd for OCing, wasn't really going to OC at all but then I thought I might give it a try. :P

The reason I am going in for a G33 is because it has support for the upcoming Penryn and yet I do not intend to spend another ~100$ for a graphics card coz I dont need it. However I just wanted to know how far can I push it.

Go for Gigabyte it the best overclocking vendor.Even G31 of gigabyte is not a bad overclocker. But G31 of most vendors are not good for overclocking.Asus is also good but gigabyte is best for overclocking.See reviews of gigabyte buyers from this link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128078
