I was thinking about replacing my 7600gt with this:

But I'm curious if the x1950pro's GPU is fast enough to really take advantage of 512mb of memory?

*edit*

Thanks for the responses, but one hour after I posted the price shot up to $149.99 after rebate (vs $129.99 when I linked to it) which is close to x1950xt prices. Yes, I'm aware of high resolutions using more MB as I'm still using a flat CRT that will comfortably do 1024, 1280 and 1600. I've already beat GRAW2 at 1024 lol at max details with the 7600gt.

Yes the card is capable of using the extra memory, the question is do you really need it, Im guessing you are aware that you would need to be running at quite a large resolution and playing the newer texture rich games before it really became a factor.

IMHO...
by the time ur running a rez that can use the extra mem, the card would have run out power way before.
So prob not worth the extra $

As mactronix said, it is mainly what you are running being the question. There are not too many games, or applications of any kind that will use that kind of ram. Quake 4 has a 512MB card option, that is all that I know of. Bigger bus over more ram, in most cases is the way to go. It is also cheaper most of the time to go with a bigger bus.

GRAW2 also lots of detail that my 320 couldn't use.
But then my card is faster so im unsure how the 1950 would perform there.

With the higher textures it is going to matter more with the ram. If you have a file that it can't fit, then it will have to fragment which is more processing that has to be done. This makes the card less effective. Still the wider bus will beat the thinner one.
