How much power do I need?

Hey guys, My question is about power. I’m looking at building a new gaming box that’s gonna dual boot xp and vista. Its going to be running a Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 mobo and an AMD X2 6400 cpu, an 8800GTS (I’d like to run sli soon, but not now), 2 gigs of ram, a Creative sound card, 2 DVD drives, and an assortment of fans and hard drives.

My question is I’m undecided between the PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 1K psu, and their Slencer 750 Quad. The 1K would work better but its so big that I would have to remove one of my over head case fans to put it in, and I’m really worried about cooling. The 750 will fit in just fine, but I don’t want my system to be under powered. Any advice you guys could give would be a big help. Thanks!

The 750 QUAD will have plenty of horsepower to spare.

Read Reviews of the 450w Corsair.
It can handle an Single GPU system.
This is 300W more and the 8800GTS uses far less power than the 8800Ultra that the 450w Corsair can power.

This could easily handle Dual 8800GTX Ultras, 4HDDs, ................

750W will power easily what you have, and if you want to add another 8800GTS in the future it wont have a problem running that either.
