I am looking at two 22" monitors at newegg. Both are the top sellers of thier 22" LCD's and out of the top sellers one is rated the best and the other the second best. Due to this its safe to assume both are good monitors, but i still question which to get.

The first is a Samsung. It looks very good but its main doown sides are the issues with different panel manufacturers and the price at $319

SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail

The second looks great too. People talk of a slight backlight bleed, but it sounds no worse than the Samsungs. The downside here is its a completely unknown brand to me, but it cost $240

CHIMEI CMV 221D-NBC Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 330 cd/m2 800:1 - Retail

I do not want to get the latter one just to find out that it is a crappy monitor, but the reviews seem to indicate it is not. None the less its an unknown brand to me which makes me wonder. The Samsung is a reliable brand, and although the rating are overall great there is actualy more downsides mentioned in the reviews than the Chimei. I will be buying two of either monitor and will expect them to last me a few years, so i want to be carefull. If you have any input or experiences to share with either monitor please help me out.

That Samsung is a great monitor, but pricer. Don't know much about Chimei, but haven't heard great things about them.

I'm looking at either that Samsung monitor or an Acer 22" widescreen monitor that is priced about $90 cheaper. Both of those would be excellent choices.

The Samsung is a wonderful monitor and no doubt you would love it. That said, I agree w/ fishboi, go 24" if you can. If I was to do it over again today, I would go 24".

What about the refresh rates or what not. Most of the 24" have 8ms and cost $600+. I will be playing games alot so i am worried about ghosting.

I think you are missing the best 22in LCD monitor on the market.

LG L226WTY-BF
From what I have read it has:
- Sharper picture than Samsung
- Brighter picture than Samsung.
- 2ms refresh rate.

This is my next purchase.

Hey Turtle why don't you sell your 22 inch samsung to Zompton and get the 24 inch then. (Sumsung sucks) :) Flame-on

There are a number of nice 24" monitors w/ prices $500 or lower with 6ms or lower response rates...

byrddogg77, the LG226WTY-BF is a nice monitor. My brother just got one last weekend and it looks nice (no better than my Samsung, but still nice).
