RCA audio to 5.1

I want to hook up my ps3 and 360 up to my surround sound system i need a converter, anyone know where i can buy one for super cheap

Why do you need a converter? Both the PS3 & the XBOX 360 have an optical output, are you saying your surround sound system does not have this kind of input?

If not, you'll have to use the stereo outputs (the red & white ones), and you will not get full 5.1 surround.

That won't work. It's as good as plugging the RCA into the surround and using stereo.

Like the first reply said, you need an optical input. Maybe yours are all being used? Only solution would be to switch them, remove something, or get a new receiver. You do actually have a proper surround sound, right, not just like 6 computer speakers?

Off topic there are still 5.1 amps out there that use analog.....in that case a decoder(dts) would be needed(decode the digital to analog to use on a analog amp....).....
