If u already have a raid 0 set up with say 2 or 3 drives and u wanted to add another one would u have to reformat all the drives?

in most cases yes. some high end raid controllers allow raid volume expansion, but this does not usually exist for raid0 to raid0. some allow expansion of raid0 to raid5, allowing drives to be added at the same time. really depends on your controller. i would say determine your controller and call the company's support line or search their website.

I think there are ways to add another drive, but you might need a certain application to do it. Maybe the option is available in the RAID setup? Back up ur rig and try it IMO.

agree with cpburns... no onboard controller i have seen has the ability to do this.

The "feature" you are looking for is "OCE" (Online Capacity Expansion) which is generally only available on high end RAID adapters (such as Adaptec 3805 that i own :))
