Hi all softcore overclockers!!

I could really do with help to find a suitable Chipset and Mosfet blocks for
my old GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 motherboard.
It was one of the sweetest pre-PCIe, AGP desktop boards ever built!! (The
only one I ever found with PCI-X slots and a PCI-X linked, onboard
U320 SCSI controller.)

(Sorry too much coffee-e hence it's a bit blurry!!)
I would need a i875p chipset cooler... However this is a problem as the hole spacing is 75 mm
(see jpeg). Most water blocks seem to only do a 60 mm reach
or just don't have any info published (which I find really annoying
and unprofessional :gun: ) Any ideas of a suitable block here?? Ideally
with standard 2x G1/4" threads.

The other problem is the power Mosfets as the heatsink mounting holes
are offset a bit to sides.
I would need a block with 85mm (length) x 10mm coverage
(width) maximum about 100mm (length) x 15mm (width). There are chips
at either end of the MOSFets (below the level of the MOSFets.
Maybe I could bring 15mm long doglegs over from
the holes to just hold the block ends down (see the jpeg). Hope that
makes sense!! I could perhaps ceramic on a block which doesn't have the
correct mounting holes - right?? Alphacool does a suitable block with the
right size/coverage (just with end mounting holes) I see...

Ah well perhaps someone can help??!! I've tried emailing a whole load of places (Alphacool, MIPs, etc.) and posting on forums with no luck so far!! :??: :??:

i agree. do you use all 6 memory slots ?

i used to have a photo of one of these at my desk, the version before
the Ultra-64, the one that was in the "Motherboard Tsunami" article
in 2003. it got the Tom's Hardware award for 875 chipset motherboards.

that page has a picture of the whole board.

Hi Raviolissimo,

It was only my second board (for personal use) and I populated it with 4x Geil PC3500 512Mb 2.5CAS RAM... Would probably have gone for 3Gb now in hindsight but the RAM was f**king expensive. My current system is a dual Opteron with bog standard PC3200 ECC RAM which was a whole lot cheaper (hence stocking it up with 4Gb which works fine for what I use it for).

I am giving the gear away to my sister as a wedding gift... She is quite impatient and likes things to work all the time... The board tends to be quite reliable but does need more cooling when overclocked!!

I think I've sorted the block problems (I will bodge the MOSFet cooling by using that dual heatsink command bonding stuff to bond on an Alphacool MOSFet block)... Really crap that manufacturers aren't providing kits to cope with odd mounting requirements... I mean the block sizes are fine its just the mounting issues that are a right royal pain in the ass!!

I really want to get that P4 (Prescott) CPU up to 4Ghz!!
