More Information

Hello,

I'm looking to replace a tapestreamer backup system with a disk-based system, preferably external.
Like a tape system, it should be easy to take a copy offsite.
With the availability of eSata, this seems a viable option.

however, I can't seem to find such devices.
I found one at www.deonetbackup.com, but that still seems a bit 'young'

Desired specs for such a device:
- 400 GB backup & verification in about 5 hour.

differential backup should
BTW: It is not clear to me what the sustained data rate is on the eSata-bus, 3Gbps sounds a lot.
but individual disks claim 100MBps, which should be more than sufficient.

- at least 1 removable, hot swappable tray
every day, a disk is removed to an offsite location.
the open slot is filled with another disk

extra disks remaining in the device could serve as online backup or be part of a rotation

-Once the backup routine is automated, user interaction should be limited to removing and replacing disk trays
visual indication on safe operation/removal is needed.

best regards
glenn
