Hey I'm kinda new to overclocking newer systems. I have a 2ghz P4 and I need to overclock it. I've got an i845GL chipset. When I open up the bios at boot, I cannot select the FSB. I can see it but it won't let me select. Why not and how do I get around it?

What kind of motherboard?

So you know, i845s aren't exactly great overclockers, my Gigabyte i865 is lucky if it can run a 200 MHz overclock. It normally just reboots and sets everything back to default.

Is your system a Compaq, Gateway, Dell, HP, etc.? If so - you probably have locked BIOS... which means no over clocking for you.

It's a custom built computer from one of the shops around here and they wouldn't talk to me about overclocking it. Even a lil overclocked would be helpful considering it's so slow. I'ts a D845GLLY mobo.

If you don't have the $500 it would take to build a better system, read the stickies at the top and start messing with BIOS settings.
