I Have a 150GB WD RaptorX and a 500GB Maxtor B.that I just installed in my brand new system. Why does it only show 139.7 GB's in my Raptor and 465.7 GB's in my Maxtor? Is this normal, or do I have to do something to recover those GB's.

I would really appreciate some help.

it's normal, one of the reasons is 1KB = 1024 bytes not 1000, the other reason is some of the space is used to contain tables for the drive

The numbers work this way. The 150 GB HDD is claimed to have 150,000,000,000 bytes. But if you define "Gigabyte" as 1024 x 1024 x 1024 bytes, then 1 GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and the HDD will show up in your system with apparently "139.6984 GB". Make that 139.7. Similarly, the 500 will show as 465.6613 GB - make that 465.7.
