More Information

Hi! I have a E6600 with Ultra 120 Extreme on a ASUS P5W DH (in an Antec 900 case with Crucial 4x1GB 4-4-4-12 2.2V) - stock speed at this time.
Spedfan 4.32 reports CPU at 26C, but also shows Core0 at 42C and Core 1 at 43C (on an average) - Is this normal for stock - idle?
When I overclock it, I've read that as long as my CPU temp stays below about 55C (60C max), it is ok - what about the core0/1 temps though? What Core0/1 temps are 'acceptable' while overclocking the E6600 to say 3Ghz?

Thanks!

jj14, since ambient temperature is just one of several major variable in determining whether temps are accurate, without knowing your ambient, your temps are quite likely very normal. All your questions are answered in the following Sticky: Core 2 Duo Temperature Guide http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] ture-guide

Hope this helps,

Comp, thank you for your quick response and the pointer to the sticky. My ambient temp is about 24C. The sticky you referred to stated:

11: Results

Tcase = 30c Idle, 50c Load (SpeedFan: CPU or Temp X)
Tjunction = 45c Idle, 65c Load (SpeedFan: Core 0 / Core 1) hottest Core

so I guess my temps are ok then. It didn't however indicate (hope I didn't miss something there) what the max Core 0/1 temps are - for when I OC... Any ideas?

Mariar, isn't the temp a little higher than it should be (for stock - idle I assume?) - My stock cooler (before I upgraded to the Ultra 120 Extreme) was giving 34C (Core 0/1 were about 46-48)... But I guess each CPU must be different and these temp variations might be normal. (I don't think I know enough to comment on this *Smile*)
