I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind helping me through an E6700 overclock on an Abit IP35 Pro. I have read guides but I'm still hesitant b/c I haven't found anyone with a close enough rig and I do not know about NB and SB voltage settings (when and how far to push them on this board).

Sys specs:
E6700
Abit IP35 Pro
DDR2 1000 PC2 8000 GSkill 4x2Gb
2x Hitachi 250Gb 7200rpm RAID 0
8800GT
Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Thank you for your input.

I have this board and i like it alot, i was able to achieve 3.2ghz on my Q6600 B3. First of all just leave all overclocking options at stock, only change ur FSB. Id say bring it up to about 3.0 ghz (333 FSB) try to boot up windows and get the programs Coretemp and Prime95. Run coretemp to monitor temperatures and prime95 to stress. Small FFT's in Prime95 is the most stressful. Never let temps get past about 63c at maximum. If ur cpu is unstable at 3.0 and u cant boot up try increasing ram voltage, generally u can increase ram voltage alot without problems. If increasing the ram voltage doesnt help try increasing the cpu in the smallest increments u can. I do not recommend increasing NB and SB voltage, u should only need to do that if u are doing very high ocing. 3.2ghz is 356 fsb with a 9x (stock) multiplier. Id say 1.4v should be ur absolute max CPU voltage. Try to stay below that. In terms of ram u would have to look up ur specific model. Do not flash ur motherboard bios using the abitflash utility in windows. It has problems with 64bit vista. If u are going to flash ur bios do so with a floppy. If u have any questions ask. You will find overclocking is alot simpler than you think and there is a very small chance that u can hurt anything.

Thank you, papasmurf, for your response.

Would you recommend changing the bios uGuru settings rather than using the uGuru windows app?

Also, I now have an E6850 (my friends work at Intel but not big overclockers).
Sys specs:
E6850
Abit IP35 Pro
DDR2 1000 PC2 8000 GSkill 4x2Gb
2x Hitachi 250Gb 7200rpm RAID 0
8800GT
Vista Home Premium 64-bit

My RAM is rated for 2.0~2.1V. How high is too high in terms of RAM voltage? I wasn't planning on going higher than 2.2V.

So, I should increase the fsb moderately and try to boot?

Once I have a stable CPU overclock, how should I tune my RAM? 1:1 is obviously ideal. Is that possible with my GSkill (2.0~2.1V 5-5-5-15 DDR2 1000)? And if not, what should I be shooting for?

btw i have flashed my bios w/ floppy to newest rev. - v14

and cooling with Zalman CNPS9700 LED w/ AS5
