Advice on Performance

Hi Everyone,

I posted on here about a month ago about a potential set-up I would be purchasing for a new computer. I finally got all the parts and got it *** last night. I have installed Windows XP Professional on it right now and that's about all. I would love any tips or suggestions to help my system run at a optimal level. If there's any good software out there I would also like to hear about that as well. General comments and criticism welcome.

Here are the basic Specs:

Intel 975XBX2KR Socket 775 Motherboard
Pentium Core 2 Quadro 2.4 Ghz
2 gigs OCZ ddr2 800 mhz dual channel ram
250 gig Seagate Serial ATA w/NCQ, 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640 mb PCIe w/Dual DVI

The Ultimate Troubleshooter give you very good control over what is running and what is starting up including Services as well as programs. Worth a look

ccleaner is a good program to run once every week or so
