I have a Biostar TForce 550 Mobo and I'm running 2 gig of ddr2 533. Would I see any difference if I upgraded to the DDR2 800. Office 2007 is pretty boggy and so can some intense programs. I also thought about putting in a AMD 5600 dual core cpu too. I quess I could jump to the higher memory and the 5600x2 Cpu and that would make a difference. Below are my spec. Thanks

Biostar TForce 550
2 gig Kingston DDr2 533
EVGA 6800 xt 256 mem
3800 Dual core AMD
Two sony dvd burners
Two WD 250gig Hard drives
Cooler master case
win XP Pro on one drive
Vista home prem on second drive
480 watt thermotake PS

I think the 5600 would be more beneficial than the faster memory although both would help to some degree. I'm not sure either would give you the kind of performance boost you are looking for... especially for the money.

I would just buy a decent cooler (and Arctic Silver) and some rebated performance RAM ($50-65) and overclock your 3800 X2 as far as it will go. You should easily be able to hit 2.6ghz. Then just sell your old RAM on eBay or craigslist.

There's really no point in buying a new CPU when your 3800 overclocked will have identical performance without effecting your wallet. There's tons of guides on overclocking...from reading one to succesfully overclcoking my Opteron 165 took only a few hours. I was able to hit 2.7 and boot fine without even bumping my voltage.

Thanks, Your probaly right, no matter what you run there will be programs that are sluggish, like Quickbooks which take for ever to open and office 2007 is is slow to open.
