Thanks for reading! This is my first build in about 2,3 years, and I'm a little nervous that I left out some small parts or wires. I've done the homework but I'm still a little unsure. I'm building everything from scratch, as the only PC I use is a laptop. Here is what I got so far:

*Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail
*Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
*SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail
*Logitech G11 Silver & Black USB Standard Gaming Keyboard - Retail
*Antec 77063 Silver Thermal Compound - Retail
*CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400 - Retail
*GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
*EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
*Thermaltake W0106RU Complies with ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V version 700W Power Supply - Retail Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail
*Rosewill RCX-Z775-EX 92mm 2 Ball PWM CPU Cooler - Retail
*SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-203B - OEM

1) Since I am going with both DVD and HDD as SATA, do I need to purchase SATA cables? I believe the motherboard comes with the interface, and the PS comes with the power cable.

2) Also, do I need an audio cable to run from the DVD drive to the mobo? (from what I've read, it's not used anymore, but I don't want to forget anything)

3) The 8800GTS has DVI-I outputs, and the Samsung 226BW monitor has a DVI-D input. Assuming these are compatible, will I need a seperate cable, or does the LCD or GFX card come with it?

4) Since I don't plan to do any overclocking, do I really need the extra cooling?

If anyone has some good advice, or just some info in general that will save me some hassles, please let me know! (I'll provide links to the hardware if needed)

As long as motherboard is sold as retail, cables will be provided.

2) Also, do I need an audio cable to run from the DVD drive to the mobo? (from what I've read, it's not used anymore, but I don't want to forget anything)

I haven't used one in awhile, and I haven't noticed a difference. I *think* that all they did was allow the play button on the front of the drive to work, but most drives don't include the play button anymore anyways.

3) The 8800GTS has DVI-I outputs, and the Samsung 226BW monitor has a DVI-D input. Assuming these are compatible, will I need a seperate cable, or does the LCD or GFX card come with it?

Again, graphics card will come with the converter if it's a retail box.

4) Since I don't plan to do any overclocking, do I really need the extra cooling?

You don't need any fancy heatsinks, per say, but you should never skimp on case cooling in general, overclocking or not.

1) Motherboard comes with 4 cables, power supply has them built in, so none to buy unless you want a different color from orange.

2) They dont use it anymore and my SATA drives didnt have connectors for it.

3) They are compatible, the LCD comes with it.

4) No, the stock HSF (Heat Sink/Fan) is more than adiquate even for moderate OCing, up to 50% OC. Don't need thermal compound either there is some on the stock HSF

I would suggest the WD3200AAKS hard drive, 320gb and really good performance. Use the money you saved on HSF :p

I'd get Arctic Silver 5 for the thermal compound. It seems to be the best.

Also get a Corsair 520W PSU instead of the thermaltake. It's better quality and fully modular.

If you have questions, msg me any time. Maximus9102 at aim or yahoo.

Is that Corsair 520W good enough to power the 640mb Gforce 8800GTS? It says on the spec that it needs "Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 26 Amps.)", where the Corsair puts out only 18A.. Then again, according to the newegg reviews, it works like a charm... wierd
