I am not shure of the best Board for me, I'll be using the new ~$1200 [exc. softs] system for the next few years mostly for home video and pictures [most likely on Adobe premire/phtoshop elements and then pro] and Little bit of games and internet.

What Board should I get? Brand and model ?

Most say I dont need Quad [?] Then E6750? 6850?

What re graphics card?
Should I think forward and get one with DirectX10 too ?

Whould you get sound card too ?

I'd go for the q6600, which is selling for around $278 in the retail box at newegg with free video game. Be sure to specify the "go" stepping (Intel serial number ending in slacr), which uses less energy and runs a little cooler. You may not need a high end board. The abit IP35-E is only $91 at mwave with a $20 rebate available. For video, newegg has an xfs 8500GT for only $55 after rebate, but you may want to spend a little more for gaming.

I am also building a system for video editing

I was looking at the q6600

someone recommend this mother board

"I'd opt for at least an X38 board .... even an X48 / DDR2 board is worth considering."

and this video card

"Especially being your 1st build, withn an Asus Mobo, I'd opt for their 3850 / 3870 graphics cards "

that was in 2007 and I had to delay....

Now I've been told to wait maybe for the Q9450...
which may end up on an X38 board [???]

The graphic is still 8600GT unless something newer and cheaper
from NVidia will come along... So hard to decide....
