Exe application not found

Hello,
Cyber security virus attached itself to my computer. I downloaded spyware doctor and now the cyber security virus is gone, but now I receive the message c:/windows/explorer.exe application not found and each time I try and open an application it asks which progam do I want to use.
Please advise how to fix this problem...thank you

can you open command prompt in windows? (Windows Key + R, then type 'cmd')
If so,
type: sfc /scannow and see if that helps.

If you can't get to command prompt, then try booting to command prompt (should be in the same menu as booting 2 safe-mode)


if that doesn't work, then you may want to try doing an OS repair
Boot to the installation disk, and after you select language click repair.
