I use to be able to have sound on my computer...an Emachine with Windows XP installed on it. If I reset my database back to a previous date, if I go back far enough, will my sound come back? Will it start reading my cd's again?

I've tried everything I can think of. My computer has the following:

Motherboard Manufacturer _________________ it is blank
Model T3985
Chipset Intel i865p/PE/G/i848P Rev A2
Southbridge Intel 82801EB (1CH5)
LPC10 SMSC

Can somebody please help me? I'm really sad about this darn thing and it won't read my cd's any longer.

This is one sad Grandma!!!!!

I finally got my computer sound to work!!!! I rolled back the audio driver to the previous configuration and it turns out it was a newer configuration than what was on it now. It started working!!!! I do not know if my cd's work yet. I was so excited to have sound. I will check the cd driver soon. Thanks for helping me guys.
