It's time once again to upgrade video cards, since i am a bang for buck kind of gu, i take my time making these decisions, and usually i can come up with a pretty logical conclusion. I currently have a 7600gt which has worked well up until now I ran the bioshock demo. Now understand that i am just a casual gamer, i play maybe once a week or two and i most mostly order games such as freelancer, freespace 2, lord of the rings, etc, but i am really digging bioshock. So far im thinking of 8600gt 256 mb, 7900gs 256 mb, radeon 1950xt 512mb, and 2600 pro or xt(512mb) . I have x2 5600 2gb ddr, and a 600 watt psu. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I think that either of the previous gen would beat the current cards you have listed, and the 1900xt would beat the 7900gs (which does OC well apparently)

Hence I'd say the 1900xt.

Have you looked at the charts?

I looked atthe rcommended requirements for bioshock, i knew from the begiining i wasnt paying a arm and a leg to get a video card, the 1900xt is like 140 dollars on newegg, the 7900gs is 120, My only reservation is ati drivers, they were good when i last had a ati card, now i hear they suck again. Thats the only thing keeping me fro m getting the 1900xt, if the drivers are gfood i will go with ati.

the x1950 pro is 140 dollars on newegg...the the x1900xt/x1950xt is around above the 200 dollar mark. x1950 pro is a good card though..Damn good card for the money.

Don't know if it would even mean anything to you, but with newest drivers for the ddr4 version of the 2600xt, I'm getting X1950PRO numbers...still trying to get FRAPS to work right, but Oblivion averages at 1280x1024 max settings with HDR no AA, my low outside is around 16 fps, with the average feeling very playable.

They're also gentle on your PSU.
