Is a link to the new Toshiba DLP 46" TV. Just a little over $2000, in a size
that would be great for an apartment or average sized family room. Nice
looking matching stand for around $260 or so more. This seems like a great
TV!! (second generation DLP)
Anyone seen this TV? Seems to be excellent, and users' reviews are
excellent. I've been hesitant to get either Plasma or LCD. I helped a
relative buy a Mitsubishi 52" DLP which is superb, but this 46" set is much
less expensive...also this set was not available then.

I have the Toshiba 62HM94 and love it. The only problem I've had is
with the built in TV Guide. There is a known problem with that that
Toshiba is aware of and working to fix. Actually I think the problem is
with TVGOS and not the set. This problem will only affect them though if
they will be using a cable card, antenna, or direct cable connection. If
they will be using a cable box there will be a TV Guide that comes with
that. The picture on the set itself is fabulous. I use the cable box for
most viewing but use a direct cable connection for the analog channels.
The analog channels are much clearer that way since the cable box
degrades the signal somewhat. I can also save setting for each connection.

This TV has been out for quite some time. It is an HD2+ DLP which is
the best available today.

This was #1 on my list but the side speakers made it impossible to fit
in my living room. This TV takes up more horizontal space than the 52"
JVC that I finally decided on. It also has only one digital input,
which might be a concern for some.

As far as picture quality, it is superb. If it fits, and you don't
care about more than one digital input, it's a good deal.

In my opinion, though, the JVC HD52z525 is a better deal -- 6" bigger
and you can get it for less than $2,000 (f you can still find one).

I bought its cousin (44NHM84
http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product. [...] duct=3910)
over the weekend. its 2 inches smaller, but thankfully ditches the "ears"
for a sleeker appearance (or to fit into tight spaces). I paid $2239 with
tax and a 5 year service contract.

This is a follow up to my initial post. I saw the 52" version of this
Toshiba DLP, and side-by-side with a Samsung, the latter had a sharper,
richer picture than the Toshiba. But that model cost $1000 more!!! So I
guess you get what you pay for....
