I have just built a new system with gigabyte ga-p35-s3 board and a q6600. All is well if I have 2gb ram in but as soon as I add another 2gb I get blue screens in both vista-64 and xp and bootable memtest86 hangs (doesnt actually report any ram errors). The ram is fine and works/passes memtest for 10hrs+ with any combination of sticks provided only 2 slots are full. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they were able to rectify it by tweaking ram bios settings.
The ram is GEIL pc6400 4x1gb 5-5-5-15 and although nice and cheap should be just fine for what i need. I've tried every combo of ram/slots and 2gb at a time is fine. The heatspreaders on the ram result in a tight squeeze on this board when ram is in adjacent slots could that cause heat issues?
other devices currently in system are asus 8600gt, 500mb sataII wd drive, ide dvd burner. Power supply is an antec 650W so should be plenty for what i've got. If anyone has any suggestions on settings i should try for ram in bios I would appreciate it. I've explicitly set the timings to 5-5-5-15 in bios but doesnt help any. Would upping the voltage or reducing the ram speed help my cause? If so what are safe ranges to try without damaging my ram. According to geil site the ram is rated 1.8v -2.2v. http://www.geilusa.com/products/showSpec/id/52
I havnt tried f5 bios as the gigabyte site lists it as only improving ps2 support. Are there any other improvements included in this release?
Here is a dump of cpu-z with only 2gb in. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Damn. Was all good until i tried clone dvd. I upped the voltage to +0.4 i.e. 2.2v but it hasnt helped any. getting bad_pool_header bsods. Any idea if that is usually ram related? pc has been stable except for that when using clonedvd with anydvd.

Just a quick reply to this. There are alot of people with problems with this board. From things crashing to things not working.

Its seems like a P35 board that had too many corners cut to keep it cheap and resulted in a poor board.

Quite amazing (I did not suspect this actually), after changing DDR2 voltage to +0.3V super pi mod 1.5XS went through all 24 loops with no error for 32M.

With default memory voltage super pi mod could not went OK even while trying 4M :]. (error not exact round - sth like this).
