I am thinking of building a new system primaraly for gaming. Now I have an old IBM netvista system and the windows xp system disk came with it. Just recently I installed a new hardrive in this system and installed the recovery cd and operating system that came with the computer.

I am a newb when it comes to this but it worked well and I am extatic that is why I am thinking of building my own system.

My question is can I install the IBM recovery CD and windows xp on the system I am going to build? I like the way IBM has it set up and worked very well. I know it seems like a stupid question but does the IBM recovery disk only work with IBM machines? I don't want to buy a new system, I like xp and how easy it was to install it.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

What if he formats his current harddisk in the netvista & installs the barebone xp, then shuts down the pc without installing drivers, & finally moves this harddisk to the new pc?

You didn't hear it from me, is that clear? :)
