My computer automatically locked up in the middle of my work... how to fix the u

please help tell me how to fix my computer.. it locks up automatically even when i'm in the middle of my computer work...

Are you getting any BSOD's, i.e. Blue Screen of Death with any error messages? If so, do you remember what they messages are?

Regular maintenance such as disk cleanup (check all boxes) and defragmenter, delete everything in your "startup" folder then reboot, also try setting your performance by going to control panel - system - advanced system settings (left side) - advance - performance, click settings then choose "ajust for best performance, you will go back to the old windows 2000 theme but that can be change in control panel
