Hello all!

Most of you will find this question kind of stupid, here we go..

I read the temp faq here and they mention what is hot, etc..etc..! now, but the question is:

I OC my cpu and is Full Prime stable at 62C (the TCase Max) using 1.3v (FSB 330), should i never go further than 62c? or i should be concern only with the vcore and TJunction?

I guess if the max was defined by Intel, i should never pass that, but hell, who knows ;)

Speedfan is the one giving me the 62C as CPU. Should i consider it as "Heat Spreader" as you said before? because the TJunctions are less that that(around 57), with the +15.

To be honest I don't know alot about speed fan. I use "coretemp" to mesure temperatures. I would download the latest version of core temp, then post back with the results. Than ask for advice on how to
properly calibrate speedfan, or read a past post on it. Tjuntion should always be higher than tcase, so speedfan is not reading correctly.

Yes, i used coretemp also to measure temperatures and they more less match with the tjunction temps from speedfan.

I read also that the tjunction should be higher than the Tcase (makes sense), and that if i dont see that difference, i should enable (or it was disable?) a setting in my BIOS, the PECI? or something like that? well, at the time i had the name in my head i could not find it in my Bios (i have a maximus force). :(

Anyways, the max for the TJ is 100, and the difference of the tcase and tj should not be too great.

I look in this forum a POST-FAQ called temps and volts or something like that :) :) :)

EDIT: BTW, in CoreTemp i dont see the TCase, only the TJunctions temps, thats correct, right?

I believe enable peci, allows for more acuate temp readings.
If core temp is reading a max of 62c, you are prob. ok. You want to keep that processor at 65 and under for core temps. How long did you run prime95? And was it loading all 4 cores small fft?

Deranged, that's right, the PECI could help me in see why my Tjunction temps are lower than the Tcase, but in my case, i dont have the option in my bios! :(

I ran prime95 (four cores, error checking enabled and small fft) for about 6 hours, since i'm still tunning this CPU, i wasnt planning to take it to an overnight trip :)

I will check different softwares to see what they have to said about TJunctions temps and not pass that 65!

I forgot to ask you if you have a b3 quad or a go stepping...
b3 breaks down to 62c max tcase and 60c safe at the core, 65C warm,
70c hot. So with a b3 I stress test to 65c core temps, because in the real world you will never load it 100% there by lowering the temps to the safe limits under normal computer usage.

I've been to 4 overclocking forums, specifically Q6600 ones and i notice a lot of you are at 55-70c under load with no more than 1.28-1.4v vcores. Now I'll admit i live in Canada, but the last 2 days have been 99F (yes i converted C to F), and my chip was at 39c idle, 47c load (CPU burn-in, prime95 on all 4 cores). It rained today and am idling at 36c, on air! All case fans on medium and NO A\C.

For the record - a quick visit to http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLACR, and a google search for the Q6600 B3 stepping, would tell you the G0 consumes 10w less than the B3 (95w vs 105w), and its max heat is higher than the B3 also (61c vs 71c). Had to say that cuz a couple ppl in other forums said the B3 was ok at 60c+ which is ridiculous. At least i don't think reaching max recommended temp under load sounds right. *shrugs*

Anyways, just wanted to see what you guys think about my temps. *shrugs*
