I have been looking into improving the performance of my T5212. Initially I was going to upgrade to a couple of stick of 1gb ram. As I looked into it futher, the D805 chip was considered very overclockable. My problem is that the bios is locked. Should I just buy the ram and call it a day or is there a way to update my bios and then pick up some 800mhz, a fan and a power supply?? and go to town.

Rather than going to the trouble of buying the power supply and fan, just get the RAM and a cheap new Core 2 Duo. Not sure if your motherboard will support it though.

My motherboard is a D101GGC2. Would there be any benefit moving up to the 3.2GHz vs my 2.66GHz. I probably could get one cheap. I haven't been able to figure out if my mobo will handle it.

Just had a quick look on intels website looks like it's not C2D compatible.

You may notice a difference with 3.2 but if i were you save up for a C2D mobo, C2D an ram setup. Bout £150 for the lot. Add a £30 cooler an that'll be at 3ghz an that you will definately notice a difference.

This has the Pentium D Processor. D805, I was wondering if the D840 would work. I am sure the core 2 duo won't.
