With the help of some friends i've come up with this system. Only problem is that it hasn't been fully approved by you guys yet, and its also too expensive. I was originally ok with spending $900-$1000, but now I have to stay closer to $700 because the system is being built on October 1st as a demo for a computer club here at my University. Mainly this is an AutoCAD/Gaming computer. I want to keep the Q6600 processor, but the rest is ok to change. I was thinking of either just using on-board video until a month or 2 goes by where I can afford a good GPU, or else just getting a x1950pro 512mb for now. The monitor i'm using is a 47" Westinghouse 1920 x 1080 display.
As a side note: I already have monitor, case (Antec900), and speakers/mouse/keyboard.
Here's what I have thus far - please "cheapen" it

Splendid
What I'd do is compromise: pick out a c2d cpu such as e6750 & a mid-range card such as 8800gts 320mb or less. Better yet, get one with rebate. 8800gts 320 was on sale for nearly $260us after rebate.

You don't have to max everything out in games. Just find the sweet pot that keeps the frame rate smooth. Heck, I don't think you can max it out with that large a resolution.

Well I want the Q6600 for AutoCAD. It is one of the programs that sees a huge boost in performance - and I use it all day.

Also, what is the best deal on memory right now? I just realized my list has 1gb instead of 2gb. I'd like 2gb.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

You can probably get by with the 320mb video card

EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082
$289.99 ($269.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate)

Plus since it's EVGA if it is not enough video card you can use the Step-Up program to get a better one within 3 months.

Agreed on the ram, but I completely disagree on the PSU front, the Xclio Goodpower is not a unit good enough to consider for a system this expensive, at least in my opinion, one would want a unit that would provide enough power for future upgrades, wouldn't under strain, and was stable enough (Remember this is also a machine for serious work). I think the NeoHE 550 is a flawless choice, by no means you should change it, I paid $115 for my NeoHE 500 and I don't regret it one bit.

Also to push new games fluidly on 1920x1080 you need SLI GTX in my opinion. And fluidly is not 25-35fps, but playable 45fps or higher.

Yeah that size resolution pretty much means you will go over budget because of the graphics card. I seiously doubt that on board graphics could handle AutoCad at that resolution.

Sorry to hear, but those are the drawbacks to having a big resolution, that you'll need to keep the graphics section fed real well. (Feels almost good to have my 17" CRT :p)
