Friend of mine, got SY-KT400 DRAGON Ultra, the problem is that stop working few days ago and he had Raid0 on MB’s onboard raid controller, the Highpoint 372. I was not surprised that he had no backup lol. Any one got an idea how to recover his data, that if I won’t find MB with same RAID controller.
I have done a recovery myself with the exact same controller. It is VERY possible, but it does take time. I used a program called R-Studio to recover the data.
What made the recovery take a long time is you have to guess the stripe size. You will know if the stripe size is wrong because pictures will be screwed up when viewed. My advice is to do a recovery of a picture folder to a spare hard drive, then look at them all and see if they look funny. You'll know right away if something is wrong, it'll be like someone cut the picture in 1/2 and swapped the halves around. If all goes well you'll be up and running in a day or 2.
Listen carefully to these comments, I've watched people lose data for not listening to these:
1. ALWAYS recover TO a hard drive that is NOT one of the drives you are going to recover.
2. DO NOT try to 'rebuild' the array until you are 100% SURE you have recovered all of your data.
3. DO NOT assume that since you found the directory structure that your files will be ok(and skip checking your pictures).
4. ANY questions, ask. Recovery is only possible as long as you don't write over data on the drives.
When this happened to me I freaked for several days, but I did get about 90% of my data back.

Either you or your friend should check out www.runtime.org and take a look at RAID Reconstructor and GetDataBack for NTFS.
You can download trial versions of the software to see if it will recover your data. If it works, you must pruchase the licenses in order to actually recover the data.
I've successfully used RAID Reconstructor and GetDataBack to recover a failed RAID5 array. These recovery tools will work as long as there is nothing physically wrong with the drives.
If your friend really wants the data rather than just doing a fresh install, it will cost you but it will be worth it.
Keep us informed! I have a RAID-0, just in case this happen (but with backup!
How does it work? you plug both drives in a new computer and the software will analyze both of them? Don't need to configure a RAID? Will try to find which was the first and second, sector size (or whatever)?
