A friend of mine claims there is a 3rd party jacket that allows the IPAQ
4700 to be used as a mobile phone.

I was sceptical of this claim and to date I have yet to find such a device
via Google. My friend is probably telling porkies :)

Thinking about it though, most PDAs have a microphone at the bottom and a
speaker at the top and it should not (I think) be rocket science to design
such a add-on.

So has anyone come across such a thing?

Not a 'jacket', but a peripheral that attaches to the Compact Flash
port.

Thanks.

Looks good.

A 4700 + this addon would be a useful alternative to the 6340 in my opinion.
