Hello all,
New to forums and website and really like it a lot. I would appreciate some reviews of my soon to be new build that is currently missing a motherboard and a case. I would love some input for a motherboard to go with these components below and will probably go with a Silverstone case unless someone has some advice on that also.
My current computer, which I put together 5 years ago, has gotten me through Everquest and doing fine for WoW but I've got the itch for a new system. I've been out of the computer component game for 5 years and really haven't kept up with anything so be gentle please . Thanks in advance!
Nice build but if I were you I would get the Q6600. Since I'm guessing you will buy another pc in another 5 years. So go with the Q6600 since its thinking long term and more and more programs and games will appreiciate the 2 extra core.
I would change the PSU and the ram for an Antec NeoHE 550 (made with better parts and also has better stability than truepower trio series) or Corsair 520HX, both are slightly more powerful than the one you chose. And just as a personal kink of mine I would get Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 or 1066 instead, simply because I consider it to be the best ram on the market right now and being so affordable, it's not really a difficult choice.
As far as motherboards goes, unless you're doing SLI, then your best choice is the GA-P35-DS3R, don't even bother looking at ASUS P5Ks, they are very overpriced and are not as good as the DS3R.
If you need a case around $40-50, then either the Centurion 5 or 534 are the cases for you, if you're looking at the $120-140 range, then the Antec Nine Hundred case is your best bet.
Agreed with all of the above. As for case, I got a Silverstone TJ09 and it rocks, especially with 3 additional fans (I used SFF21E). However, it's about CAD$400 (fans included). You're better off with an Antec 900 and using the savings to upgrade to GTX.
