No, I am not a mac lover. The fiscal Problems of AMD/ATI can be solved very simply... merge of get bought out by Apple. No more worries as to what Intel or Nvidia have waiting around the corner, Macs would use AMD and ATi exclusively.
Forget about decent pricing for CPU and video cards for our beloved PC game machines, with AMD out of the race the "MAN" can charge what he wants when he wants. I'll bet Apple would celebrate the take over of AMD/ATI by releasing a commemorative red and green Ipod and call it the IMAD. I recently upgraded by socket 939 to a q6600 and was very happy to have a quality product at an affordable price. Alas, this will no longer be if AMD slips below the waves.
Competition is a wonderful thing, I sure hope AMD has something soon to pull out of the fire.

i was pretty surprised when Intel announced they
were delaying the Q9450, because of lack of
competition from AMD.

but i don't know if Apple would be laughing if
they bought AMD. they'd be buying a lot of
debt. if it worked out bad they'd have the
additional potential problem of a shareholder class
action, the Lerach treatment (Milberg Weiss
Lerach in San Diego specializes in that kind
of lawsuit.)

i wouldn't be surprised to see some Russian
or maybe Saudi investment group buy them.
sort of like the recent acquisition of Citigroup
shares by some foreign company.
