First time builder and OCer. Built my new system earlier this week and just started messing around with OCing.
System
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H
Brisbane 4000, Stock is 2.1GHz
Transcend Axe Ram (2x1GB), DDR2 800 Stock settings 1.8v 4-4-4-4-12 timings
Ran memtest86 v1.7 and Orthos once the the system was up and going and with no errors at all, all temps look good.
Started OCing tonight and its my first time so I could use all the advice I can get. I've been reading alot on the subject but it gets quite confusing and I needed some hands on experience.
Heres what I've done so far.
Changed ram to ddr2 677. Read about dividing ram but couln't figure out how to do that in my bios. After changing the ram to 677 I started on the CPU by puting the muiltipler to 10 and raised the Mhz in 5Mhz increasments. Started at the stock 200 and after every increasment I loaded the OS and ran Orthos for 10 mins. Finnaly hit an error at 235Mhz so I dropped it back down to 230Mhz and no more errors. I am plenty happy at 2.3GHz cause I dont want to raise volts till I upgrade the cooling.
At this point everything is stable as far as I can tell and temps are still firm in the 30s. Ran Memtest again and this is what worries me and I think needs some tweaking. After 2 passes with memtest I got no errors but it lists my memory settings as....
Settings 384Mhz (DDR768) / cas: 4-4-4-4-12 / DDR-2 (128 bits)
384Mhz and DDR768??? Is that correct?
I'm not sure what to do now but I'm pretty sure I need to do some memory tweaking. Any advice or some direction would be greatly appreciated.
