Dear all,
I am planning to upgrade my current system. My system is connected to my Samsung 1080i DLP TV, and I use it mainly for gaming. I also plan to run VISTA.
I am considering to upgrade with the following components:
■ CPU: Intel Core Duo Q6600
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017)
■ Motherboard: Asus P5K-E (with CrossFire)
or
Asus P5N32-E SLI
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131153)
■ Memory: Crucial PC6400 Ballistix 2048Mo DDR2 4-4-4-12 (2x1024Mo)
■ Graphics: Asus Radeon EAH2900XT HTVDI 512 Mb
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121073R)
or
Asus EN8800GTS HTDP 640Mo
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121034&Tpk=Asus%2bEN8800GTS)
■ Cooling: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109140&Tpk=Thermalright%2bUltra%2b120%2bExtreme)
■ Power Supply: Enermax 600W Noisetaker EG701AX-VE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194005&Tpk=Enermax%2b600W%2bNoisetaker%2bEG701AX-VE)
■ I will reuse my current case, DVD-RW player, SATA HD, IDE HD, and PCI WiFI card.
I am still doubting whether to go for the combination P5K-E + Radeon HD2900XT (Radeon continues to improve with new drivers, but consumes a lot of power) or for the P5N32-E SLI + 8800GTS 640Mb. If the power consumption between the two is not too big, I'd prefer the Radeon.
I am also not sure about the memory choice, nor the Power Supply choice (how much power would I need, especially if I want to overclock at a later stage and maybe add a second graphics card).
Any advice would be really appreciated.
