Dear all,

I am planning to upgrade my current system. My system is connected to my Samsung 1080i DLP TV, and I use it mainly for gaming. I also plan to run VISTA.

I am considering to upgrade with the following components:
  • CPU: Intel Core Duo Q6600
  • Motherboard: Asus P5K-E (with CrossFire)
    Asus P5N32-E SLI
  • Memory: Crucial PC6400 Ballistix 2048Mo DDR2 4-4-4-12 (2x1024Mo)
  • Graphics: Asus Radeon EAH2900XT HTVDI 512 Mb
    Asus EN8800GTS HTDP 640Mo
  • Cooling: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (
  • Power Supply: Enermax 600W Noisetaker EG701AX-VE (
  • I will reuse my current case, DVD-RW player, SATA HD, IDE HD, and PCI WiFI card.

I am still doubting whether to go for the combination P5K-E + Radeon HD2900XT (Radeon continues to improve with new drivers, but consumes a lot of power) or for the P5N32-E SLI + 8800GTS 640Mb. If the power consumption between the two is not too big, I'd prefer the Radeon.

I am also not sure about the memory choice, nor the Power Supply choice (how much power would I need, especially if I want to overclock at a later stage and maybe add a second graphics card).

Any advice would be really appreciated.

If you plan to crossfire (run 2 identical ati cards), you might need a 750w psu, so say Asus.

The Enermax 600W has 35 amps on combined +12v, enough even for an 8800 ULTRA (needs 35A).

The ballistix is a good choice.

That HSF will need a fan to go with it. One of these is fine:

The only thing I'd do different is get a new video card. The EAH2900XT is an open box or return.
