Does anybody know what temps you would have with a E6550 and a pentium 4 northwood 3 gh if you used he same cooler...
would the decrease in die size lower the temp or would the adding of a core increase the temp...??
and what would it mean going to a quad core.is the quad hotter than the p4.

Is the peyron going to be that much cooler or will it all be up to oc potential

i need to make a dissision on weather to get a cheap core duo now or wait and buy a peyron core 1333 for my asus p5b deluxe wi-fi..

coz i heard my pentium is slowing my 8800 gts

:pt1cable: I have been serching answers for thease questions please help me...

*Ok which means i would expect around the same temps, from my germin2 cooler with 2x120mm arctic cooler fans...,

And i would suppose if i went for the E8400 45nm chip which is also for the lga 775 socket my temps would go down...

And going even further maby i could get a Q9550 an run it at same temps as my p4....

All this might be quite a handfull but i need to get this right..

Dual core is as hot as pentium 4 northwood same clock (due to die shrinking teck....)

But what would the difference be from a 65nm core duo to a 45nm core duo same clock same cooler...

As far as i know the same cooler is used by intel for the e4xxx e6xxx and the q6xxx but wil that change with the E8xxx and the Q9xxx

øhh it is possible i use a pentium 4 with my p5b deluxe wifi and it runs fine...

its socket 775 so it does not have any problem
on the case it also ses i could have used a celeron if i wanted to...

Why do ypu say it is impossible

It from P4 to Quad Extreme 45nm Aka QX9650 so i cant see your concern about if its possible....

But yearh the cpus havent come out yet...but would be a leap from 90nm to 45nm your talking about,
im trying to find out what the difference vas going from Pentium 90nm to the E6850 65nm
and to the dual 65nm Q6700

Then after november we can interjoin the temps and compare

IT'S NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO NORTHWOOD CPU MADE FOR LGA 775. You have a Prescott (or a Cedar Mill if it's a 6x1 series), use CPU-Z to verify. Anyhow, the temps of the newer Core 2s will be much lower. That's why I was confused, b/c you don't understand what it is you're talking about.

ok ok as far as knew when i bourght it it was a northwood but if you seem to know so much about the differet gerenerations of
P4 i will take your word for it.....havet tryen cpu-z gonna go home and try today..:)

But thanks again for good replys...looks like i can keep my current cooling soloution afterall if i get one of the new ones...Jippiii kaIIIYAAA

Super duper

Thanks alllll :)

The 3ghz P4 on LGA 775 should have a TDP of 84W. Most C2Ds are 65W. So the C2D should run at a lower temp using the same cooler.

I think.......
