Vista mp3 to shortcut - how to change format back to mp3

i recently tried to relocate my limewire mp3s to a file on my desktop and i accidentally landed all 1200 of them on my desktop. they all became shortcuts. now my limewire won't play them as shortcuts, or any other player. i have winamp. vista is tough to deal with as far as changing extensions...can you tell me what i can do to change them back the way they were? system restore didn't help.

you should be able to right click one of the shortcuts and click open file location to show where they are.
however as far as the shortcuts goes you will need to go to...

My Computer / Desktop *located on the left hand side* View and select view details then sort by file type then weed out the short cuts that you made ^.^
