It would be more informative if they mentioned what they used to reach those speeds..., liquid nitrogen, phase change? I doubt any of it was air or water cooled. This can be misleading to people who might think all QX9650 or penryn will OC like this just by plopping into any good board and boosting it up.

I read a few of these guys articles and they normally use liquid nitro. I am certain this couldn't have been on air or water. I don't think anyone is shooting for the 5-6Ghz range on air or water. I do wish they would've included more info like voltage...anyways 8 second Super Pi :pt1cable:

I think AMD needs to fix their 65nm process quickly. Having a 2.0Ghz product where it supposed to be 2.3Ghz, and with a yield of 30% isn't quite good.

I dont have time to edit stuff like I normally do. Im in town for a few days before I have to go back out of town on business.

The short of it.....Advertise on THG again, anywhere other than the 'classifieds' section, and you will be banned.

Well, it is easier to make a 8 core thing of one piece (and the 80 core is on it's way) than the 6 GHz. Software better follow suit, because this is the current trend for making cheaper and more powerful computers. In the end of the day, you'll be spending your hard earned money on the software and hardware that give you back the most.

Well, not just the software.
The operating systems.
Only the Enterprise Edition or better of Windows will handle more than 4 CPUs.

But, I just find it silly when people try to OC using Liquid Nitrogen and stuff.
What's the point.

Also, I saw their 4.1 on air but I would discount that as well.
Likely not stable.
Too many other sites who have tried but not gotten it that high on air.

I like to see results closer to what people could expect to see and actually USE.

Don't you think your being very very harsh? I'm not entirely sure what was written but a ban seems like it falls into the cruel and unusual punishment bin if you ask me. Not once on the years iv been on these forums have i seen a mod get that pissy about something...

Anyways in response to the overclocking: that sounds absolutely brilliant if we can get really high clock speeds like that i cannot wait omg llol, i want a new gpu from nvidia or ati so i can get my new rig to play crysis :D

it would have been nice if they posted info. I read the articles you posted and there was purely claims that the score was beat, but...no details. Am i missing something?

If it were his first warning, I would agree that it was harsh, but its not his first warning about advertising. It is, however, the last. It was dont publically to get the point across to anyone else considering doing the same thing what the results will be.
