Hello

Im about to build my first computer. I have been doing some research on different pages, read reviews and so on. My goal is to build an okay gaming computer, for a reasonable budget. I would like to know what you think of my list – should I change something – does they work together, and other advises.

Also- what kind of power supply should I get, and how many watts do I need??

This is what I had in mind.

Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6

For that pc with 8800gts, a 28A 425W power supply would be the minimum. Any of the tier 1,2 or 3 brands & models is good:

The DQ6 may be overkill, depending on how long you're keeping it. I keep my parts no longer than 1 year, then sell some & upgrade some. I wouldn't get top of the line parts brand new. My psu is bought used for an impossible price. The only brand new parts I bought are mobo & cpu.

Yep, I'd drop the dq6 like aevm said & up the cpu to quad. I could live with d3sl which overclocks very well. You see, you're more of a multitasker (multi-cores) than a gamer (single-core). Quad is astonishing fast when doing stuff like compression, decompression (unzip/unrar), encryption, decryption (security), encoding & decoding (multimedia). In fact, i would cut corners as much as possible to get a quad pc with quality parts.

Depending on what games you play, you might be able to get a slower card as well like 8600gts or x1950pro & put that saving on getting a C2Q.

The DQ6 is cutting edge and it is a difficult board for newbees. Go with an "older" Asus or Intel board. Stay with the 6850 and the cpu fan that comes with it. Use crucial or corsair memory. Buy the biggest power supply you can afford. Stay away from Vista, go with XP. You don't need 64 bit. Your english has a german accent. It's the way you pronounce your "T's"
