Isn't something always coming out soon? Is this worth waiting for because it's going to bring a lot more performance or because it will drop the current card prices?

Nvidia and Ati are filling a gap in their product line-up that exists between the:
8600GTS and 8800GTS 320 (this one may be alot better)
2600XT and ? (don't really know)

If you did get an ATI 2900pro I dont think you will regret it. But its hard to say. I'm kind of in the same boat as you are. I'm tired of waiting and I want to play my games now.

You wont regret it but its worth the wait for these. Its a new product taht wont be replaced for a while, definatly worth it, they boty outperform the 2900pro for less money anyway.
