Is my PSU good enough?

I had an Ultra V Series 500w PSU, 28A on the 12V rail running this system:

x1950pro
c2d @ 3ghz
2gigs ram
3 hard drives and dvd drive
usb keyboard and mouse

Now, my system had problems and I thought it was the PSU, but it was the video card that's busted. So, I bought an Antec Trio 650w PSU (up to 85% effic) thinking it was the PSU. Put it in, same problems. Went out and bought an 8800gts 320mb and my system is great, problems solved.

Should I return the Antec PSU and keep the ultra v series to run this?:

8800gts 320
c2d @ 3ghz
2gigs ram
3 hard drives and dvd (system is 10k rpm)

Or will this upgrade from an x1950pro to an 8800gts 320 along with the 3 hard drives put me closer to the limit of the 500w Ultra psu? I've never had a problem with the ultra PSU, but haven't put it into the system yet with the c2d @ 3ghz and the 8800gts. I'd rather get some advice before putting in the ultra PSU.

The psu can power a fully built 8800gts 320 pc (425w & 28a). Try it. Run 3dmark06 in a loop for a few hours. Play your games. Run memtest for 5+ passes. Run the pc 24/7 for 3 days straight. Note any abnormalities. If it's ok for a few days, I think it'll be fine.

Devices don't use a lot of power. Only cpu & gpu use a lot.

How much did you spend on the Antec? What card did you have before? I know the new 8800 series cards use a lot more power than previous cards but you shouldn't need a 650W PSU either. However, 28A is probably a bit on the low side especially since Ultra has PSUs of questionable quality and PSUs tend to lose output over time due to capacitor aging. The flip side is that the 650W should be good for just about any sane upgrade in the foreseeable future.
