cant overclock my old newcastle 3500 (going 2.56mhz instead of 2.24)anymore and x800xl as well. So time for a new one ready for crysis and the next 2 yrs hopefully, this is the setup im looking at based on the forums.

CPU:e6750 (cos they a lot cheaper than e6600)
MOTHERBOARD: er...... still not decided, nothing fancy, jst one with 1333fsb and good overclocking bios ready for when it gets old (probably asusp5n32 or eva 680i lite)
RAM: 2gb of ddr2 pc5300 (this matches with the cpu perfectly) probs corsair xms2 as never had a problem
GRAPHICS: x1950xt as this best card out there for the price range and the 8800's add far to much money to a cheap system build.
CASE: antec180 or antec900 which looks class! BUT will these be big enough for the x1850xt as i hear they are quite large.

Cheers for the replies, also i am not new to new builds its jst i always want to check its right before i spend me money.

E6750 is great value for the price. If you can afford a Q6600 it will last you longer, but both are great.

Check out GA-P35-DS3L. I'm guessing you don't have the budget for two $500 cards, so you don't really need SLI support. This means the P35 chipset is your best bet, not 680i.

RAM: there's a Patriot 2x1GB DDR2-800 for $52 after rebate at newegg. (or at least it was there a few days ago).

x1950xt is also great value for the money, go for it.

Antec 180 and Antec 900 are big enough even for the 8800 GTX. No worries there, they'll fit an 1950xt.

Budget CPU for now and Penryn later, If you like, but here's an idea to look at, since you've OC'd before. This will allow you to get a 8800gts with the $ savings on the CPU and case.

that oc idea would certainly save some money to get a direct 10 card,
do both cores oc the same or is that done seperate (will have to research this new idea) not sure i need a quad as only play fps and watch films and cant see a new game coming out for a long time that uses quad, but could be wrong

Nice work lunyone!!!

Yes both cores OC together.

A quad is better for SupCom, FSX, Crysis, Hellgate. Most current games will prefer a dual-core with a higher clock. For example for a short-term solution E6750 is better than Q6600. Long-term it's best to get the quad. Anyway, the overclocked e2160 + GTS 320 will be great, do it. Remember to add a good CPU cooler to the mix.
