The 8800 GT gaming benchmarks are out, it shows it ahead of the 8800GTS 640mb and just below the 8800GTX.
Everyone is on the bandwagon that the 2950XT will beat the 8800 GT, the specs also lean that way. So are we going to see the 2950XT on par with the 8800gtx or maybe even BEAT it with increased voltage, dual slot cooling, and extreme overclocking under 55nm. Dont quote me on this but i think we have a 8800GTX killer in terms of price/performance ratio
hmm so if a 8800GT is out perfoming the 640 GTS, what if they rebuilt the 8800GTX/Ultras based on the G92. That card would kill everything on the market. ATI Who?
I suspect the 8800GTX/Ultra will be out shortly based upon that chip.
Most likely they are starting with the slower chips while they increase yields on the higher speeds. Perhaps in a Quarter.
why would they remake the 8800gtx with g92? they would rather work on the next-gen chip than to waste time on that. most like they will release a dual chip 8800GT

Interesting. The 8800GT looks to be a good buy. Should bring the price of the GTX and the Ultra down, so no bad thing there.
However, I fail to see how you link this to the 2950XT being a 8800GTX killer? In DX10 (where it matters at the high end) the 2900XT performs woefully so it would be quite a feat for it to overtake the 8800GTX.
A 2950XT which is supposedly better than the 8800GT will probably be on par with the 8800GTX if you increase the volt, replace cooler, and increase clocks. Remember, we are talking about a $250 card vs a $500 card
Supposedly the 8800gt is jsut a 65nm G80 with 112SP's, which means you wouldnt see the performance boost between the 8800gts and 8800gtx if a newer gtx was released.

I fail to see how a 8800GT benchmark is even comparable to a HD2950XT. Mind explaining? two different companies...two different cards...where's the link?

That is what I'm looking for. The link above references to a chart, but I don't see where the proof is. I can create a post and make one card look better than the other, but I'd need some actual proof to convince others that the data is good.
well this is speculation but we can see that the memory bandwidth reduction didn t have that much of an impact if at all on nvidia s card. so maybe we can consider the 2950xt as an overclocked 2900xt if we follow the the logic. look what the added speed and shader processors did to the 8800gt. and if it overclocks well then anything is possible.
also, as for gtx vs gt, maybe nvidia dont really care as much about the gtx as when it came out. i think the gtx was just being made to demonstrate the superiority and capability of nvidia and now it s time to sell the technology with a better card(if we do not only factor in the performance. then again even performance wise?).
