chipset thermal paste

does the power modules use thermal paste same as the nb and sb chipset or does it use a thermal pad ? co'z, i'm planning to use as5, I just needed to find out if I will need a thermal pad for power modules....

You only need the thermal paste for the CPU/HSF. If your buying a retail CPU the HSF will come with the paste, which will work fine unless you're going to heavily overclock

I own a ASUS P5ND2-SLI for less than 2 years and I did some overclocking and when I check the NB and SB the thermal paste are all dried out like a chalk. So, maybe if I use a arctic silver 5 instead of the one that comes with the manufacturer maybe the thermal paste will last a lot longer... So, my QUESTION still remain un answer which is: do the power modules use thermal pad or thermal paste, thanx....

They likely have thermal pads on the power modules. Give them a look see, how are they attached? Mechanically or with some kind of adhesive?
